According to SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) regulations, all life-saving appliances must be in proper working condition and ready for immediate use when the vessel departs port and throughout the voyage.

GOTCO provides inspection, maintenance, and repair services for lifeboats in compliance with SOLAS, IMO, and classification society standards. Our team of experienced technicians ensures that the launching system, engine, release mechanisms, and life-saving equipment are always in operational readiness, supporting the safe operation of vessels on every voyage.

01 – External Inspection & Identification

Check the physical integrity and technical details of the liferaft before unpacking.

Inspection Items

Serial number, manufacturer, model, production and expiry dates

cracks, dents, rust, UV wear (hard case or soft bag)

Security seals, locking bands, wire tags

  • Photo documentation and reception checklist

Additionally, GOTCO also maintains other items as per customer requests and regulatory requirements.

02 – Inflation & Structural Integrity Check

Verify the liferaft inflates correctly and maintains structural stability under pressure.

Inspection Items

Activation system (CO₂ cylinder, hydrostatic release unit)

Inflation time and pressure levels

Material check: rubber, PVC, Hypalon

Air chambers and buoyancy tubes

Overpressure and relief valves

Leak test with soap solution or ultrasonic detectors

Ladder, boarding ramp, ballast pockets

03 – Onboard Equipment & Survival Pack Inspection

Ensure all survival tools and consumables meet SOLAS or flag state requirements.

Inspection Items

Emergency rations and drinking water (expiry date, packaging integrity)

Pyrotechnics: hand flares, rocket parachutes, smoke signals

Electric torch/lamp, batteries, signaling mirror

First aid kit and motion sickness tablets

Floating knife, paddles, repair kit, hand pump

Emergency instructions, equipment checklist

Quantity, condition, and expiry of each item

Replacement of expired or missing items with approved stock

04 – Repacking, Sealing & Certification

Repackage the liferaft according to manufacturer’s standards and finalize documentation.

Inspection Items

Full deflation and drying

Folding as per manufacturer’s specifications

Vacuum sealing (if applicable)

Container closure, securing straps

Install new service label and tamper-evident seal

Update service records and issue certificate of service

Record classification society and flag endorsements if required
