Students from the University of Transport Ho Chi Minh City visit and study at GOTCO
On April 10, 2025, Green Ocean Technology & Service Co., Ltd. (GOTCO) warmly welcomed a group of students from the University of Transport Ho Chi Minh City for a site visit and hands-on learning session at the company’s headquarters. This meaningful activity served not only as an opportunity for students to gain practical exposure to their future profession, but also as a crucial bridge connecting academic knowledge with real-world experiences in a professional maritime environment.
With over 12 years of experience, GOTCO is a pioneering company in the field of life-saving equipment supply and technical services for the inspection and maintenance of maritime safety systems. We place human life at sea at the core of everything we do, consistently elevating our service standards to meet international benchmarks such as SOLAS and ISO 9001:2015. As a result, we deeply understand the importance of educating and sharing knowledge with the younger generation—the very people who will carry the maritime industry forward into the future.
From practice to perspective – Real world insights into Maritime Risk Management
The visit began with an insightful session led by a GOTCO representative, focusing on the critical topic of Risk Management in the Maritime Industry – a life-or-death concern in today’s increasingly globalized trade environment, where maritime safety is of paramount importance. Drawing on real-life incidents that occurred during equipment maintenance and onboard emergency responses, the discussion provided students with not only technical knowledge but also a broader perspective on risk anticipation, prevention, and comprehensive operational control.
One of the most memorable highlights of the visit was the hands-on experience with various life-saving and fire safety equipment supplied and maintained by GOTCO. Students were introduced to the functionality, operating principles, and significance of each type of device, including:
- Fire extinguishers and dedicated onboard firefighting systems
- Fireproof suits and Personal protective equipment
- Life rafts and lifeboats
- Life jackets and Immersion Suit/Anti-exposure suits
More than just passive observation, students had the chance to physically interact with and test the equipment themselves. This rare opportunity allowed them not only to understand the devices – but to internalize their importance as the “last line of defense” in maritime emergencies.

Engaging with international standard maintenance procedures
A key highlight of the visit was the in-depth presentation on the inspection, maintenance, and servicing processes for lifesaving equipment in compliance with the International SOLAS standards. GOTCO shared insights into the stringent requirements involved at every step – from equipment intake, technical inspection, component replacement, functional testing, to final certification reporting. Each task demands meticulous attention, precision, and practical experience to ensure optimal equipment performance once deployed on board.
This hands-on demonstration affirmed that delivering technical services to international standards is not solely about possessing advanced equipment, but also lies in strict procedural compliance, a strong sense of responsibility, and the technical expertise of the service team.

Enthusiastic UTH students engage in a Q&A with GOTCO
The visit concluded with a lively Q&A session between the students and company representatives. The students raised insightful and academically rich questions, exploring topics such as career orientation, workplace realities, future growth opportunities within the maritime industry, and the strategic role of maritime service providers in the global supply chain.
This open and sincere exchange created a dynamic two-way dialogue—offering students a platform to voice their thoughts and aspirations, while allowing the company to better understand the interests and expectations of the next generation. It was a shared moment of learning and mutual respect, united by the common goal of advancing maritime safety sustainably.
A journey of connection and inspiration
The field trip to GOTCO was far more than an off-campus lesson—it was a meaningful experience for every student involved. At GOTCO, theory met reality through heartfelt knowledge sharing, real equipment, real scenarios, and the real people who work daily behind the scenes to protect human lives at sea.
For GOTCO, this was a valuable opportunity to inspire the younger generation and to spread the company’s mission: To create a safer and more prosperous world by providing products and services that protect lives and assets at sea.
Together, we are helping shape a new generation of maritime engineers—ones who are not only highly skilled but deeply rooted in responsibility and a profound love for the ocean. GOTCO is honored to be part of that journey—today and for all the days to come.
