The company was established under Decision No. 151/1999/QĐ-TTg dated July 9, 1999, by the Prime Minister, which converted the Riverway Petroleum Transport and Repair Enterprise into Petrolimex Waterway Petroleum Transport Joint Stock Company with a charter capital of VND 13.5 billion.

After transitioning to a joint stock company, PJTACO has strived to develop and maintain its traditional business activities such as ship repair, shipbuilding, and riverway petroleum transport, while strongly shifting towards coastal petroleum transport. This strategic move has led to significant growth in PJTACO’s fleet size and its market for petroleum transport.

  • 2003: The company’s charter capital increased to VND 14.596 billion, with Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) holding 35% of the charter capital.
  • 2004: The company’s charter capital was VND 19.370 billion, with Petrolimex holding 51.21% of the charter capital.
  • 2006: The company’s charter capital increased to VND 35 billion, with Petrolimex holding 51.21% of the charter capital.
  • December 28, 2006: 35 million shares of the company (PJT) were listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
  • 2008: The company’s charter capital increased to VND 70 billion, with Petrolimex holding 51.21% of the charter capital.
  • 2009: The company’s charter capital increased to VND 84 billion, with Petrolimex (Vietnam National Petroleum Group as of 2012) holding 51.21% of the charter capital.
  • 2013: The company’s charter capital was VND 96.599 billion, with Petrolimex transferring state capital management rights to Petrolimex Waterway Transport Corporation, making it the controlling shareholder with 51.21% of the charter capital.
